A good friend of mine recently pointed me in the direction of an excellent YouTube channel called Beyond Ghibli. It’s a fairly young channel and is run by a friend of a friend, so I am keen to point people in its direction. What you’ll find here are some wonderful pieces of anime analysis.
Below is my favourite of their videos: it compares The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to the film Princess Mononoke, a game and a film I like very much. I had never really considered their similarities before, but now that they’ve been pointed out, they seem so obvious. I really appreciate the amount of thought and reflection that went into the video and it as a very interesting video to watch.
